AREDRA [The Cave, the Forest & the Lake: Part 2]
Who is Aredra and why are we telling her story?
I always had a love for writing. And I can easily say for me, writing a story is almost the same as designing for SM. An outfit is all about who wears it, the things she’s doing, her interests and mood, and what phase of her life she’s in. I started writing a story about a girl named AREDRA in mid-2020. And she quickly became a fascinating character. All the products you see are named after a character and represent them. Aredra exists in a whimsical world that poses constant challenges yet embodies a place where limitless possibilities unfold.
And the store continues….
Part 2:
“What we ought to do now?”
-The riddle spoke of the sea. The map is in the heavens, Astarati is our guide.
Aredra jumped on her feet quickly and studied the waves of the sea. It was almost noon, though she first entered the cave at nightfall. The summer breeze blew through the tall crowns of the trees not far away. The golden sand beneath her feet disappeared into the dense green forest behind the high arch of the stone cave. She let out a sigh and spoke:
-We should head back to Dasran. We will go through the forest and follow the Erenaiv River.
“Are you mad?!” cried Skylos. Aredra began walking along the beach. She ought to find the camp from last night in the hope of some food in her satchel.
“Aredra slow down! We cannot go back to Dasran, there is nothing for you there!” Aredra stopped and closed her eyes.
-We need to get to Asarik. The safest way to travel is through the Royal Trade Route of Iperios. The last caravan leaves within a fortnight. We do not have much time. Unless you have a better plan!
Aredra could hear her voice raising with every word but she was tired.
-Go on then?!
Skylos fell quiet, as were the trees and the breeze. It was only then that Skylos began to see just how frightened she was. He dared not to ask about what happened in the cave, though the last time he saw Aredra in such a state was long ago. It did not matter, for Skylos was all she had left.
“Very well, but we better eat something before I perish. It would be a shame for the world to lose such a magnificent creature.”
Aredra smiled and threw her head back:
-You know, I was beginning to wonder, you are getting a bit fat Skylos. After all, this journey might do you some good.
Skylos jumped on Aredra’s Shoulder; “How dare you!”
She let out a soft laugh and began to walk faster.
-Come on old friend, we need to find my satchel. We will make camp at half-light in the forest.
Aredra was squinting her eyes for the summer sun felt like it rained fire flames and the sand seemed to be melted gold. Skylos shouted: “Over there! I see something glimmer!”
-It must be my sword.
She began running towards the giant rocks that guard the forest. And there it was, the ashes of firewood and next to the rock on the right, where she slept.
-Here
She grabbed the black satchel reached for the scabbard and pulled out the sword. The emeralds sat among the twisting carved branches on the steel guard, ending with the Dena follower on the Pommel1. Aredra let out a sign as a sign of relief:
-We should go. We mustn’t lose daylight if we ought to reach the river by nightfall.
Aredra and Skylos began to climb up the stones away from the sea towards the tangled branches of the green forest. She stood above the tallest stone peak to take one last look at the peaceful golden beach. The horizon was nowhere to be found for the clear blue sky appeared to melt into the sea. Skylos and Aredra looked at one another as if they both knew such peace and view would soon be a distant memory.
