WHAT IS THE DESIGN PROCESS FOR SARA MIRZA?
Poetry!
Poetry and story telling are the essence of Sara Mirza pieces. Each garment is envisioned to be worn by an exceptional woman. Then, Sara Mirza writes a poem describing that woman and what she is doing.
The poems are usually narrated by a third person who is watching her in admiration.
All Sara Mirza collections are with a statement, tell a story or stand behind a cause.
Below are the poems for the “Stories of Persia” collection and the collection statement.
Collection statement
“Stories from Persia” by Sara Mirza is a celebration of individuality and diversity. The pieces are a combination of Persian traditional prints on modern silhouettes to embrace the duality of both eastern and western cultures. Each garment tells a story in form of an art that has been praised in Persian culture for centuries, such as poetry.
Anahita
“…She vanished like the sun at dawn, but her presence dominates the hall. I know her name will be engraved in time. She entered the room as if a ray of light pierced through a cloudy sky. She had wings, trailing along her figure wrapped in white and now I shall forever long for such light…”
Mitra
“…The lights are blinding and the night is young. The room is crowded and she is dancing. All I can do is run and scout through the crowd. The music is loud, her energy is wild yet cannot be defined…”
Dena
“…High tides and the moonlight, that is all I can feel & her dazzling figure in jewels, is all I can see. The waves are banging against the balcony and shattered in drizzles. She reached for the stars on the edge of the balcony. Her arms were covered in deep blue velvet like the night sky. And it seemed that even the stars were in awe…”
Sraosha
“…In her presence I stood, and by her side I shall walk. Till time do us apart, nothing shall separate us. To love and to know such existence, what greater honor could I embrace. Her eyes and her dress were emerald green & she is now forever my queen…”
Zara
“…At last, I have found what I searched for beyond the seventh sea. Like the sun, She rose from the east. My gloomy skies turned lilac and auburn. The storm has vanished and I’ve reached her loving shore…”
Homa
“…The gates opened and she stood alone. Legend has many storied of her free spirit that cannot be controlled. One thing is certain, that she awaits no hero. She fights for the truth and earns her respect, for she is the only leader of her fate…”
Aria
“…The wind was dancing in the streets and the night was cold. But it seems she has fire, burning in her soul. She kept her head up high and watched the city lights. She has arrived to conquer and leave everyone in wonder…”
Darianna
“…I said if I go to sleep tonight, will you be in my dreams? She said I shall be patient, if my intentions are as they seem. Her hair was tucked in her coat and I watched her walk away, hoping that one day our paths would cross again…”
Jasmine
“…The sky is blue and the lights are shining. I am looking at her and this is my reality. The sky is blue and we are dancing. There is something about her, that is pulling me in. The sky is blue & it just wants me to live. For the first time ever, this is not a dream…”
